The Visionary theme was in major need of an update because of a few bugs. Plus, I had a few enhancements (nothing major) in mind too.
Here’s what you’ll get with the latest version.
The page and category navigation filters have been renamed and can now be correctly filtered. You can find documentation on how to correctly filter these in the custom navigation tutorial.
There were extra unordered list tags being displayed with two of the related posts plugins, which has now been fixed.
The check for the home page is now better handled using a combination of
is_front_page(), so those of you with problems before not getting content to show on the front page, shouldn’t have that problem now.
The elements that wrap your site title and description are now dynamic. They’re
h2 elements only on the home page. Otherwise, they’re listed as a
Other page and post titles are now
h1 elements. This should help out with SEO a little bit more.
Most other changes are minor. The biggest change is in
header.php, which creates your dynamic elements.
There were a couple of minor stylesheet modifications for
#header #site-title, that you’ll want to reference in the new
style.css file if you’re building a child theme. This is because of the way the header was recoded.
If you have been any deeper into the filter system of Visionary, there were a few function name changes, and I’ll be happy to help you out if you run into any trouble.
So, upgrade already!
To upgrade, delete your old
visionary folder. Upload the new one. That’s it.
