Thank a Plugin Developer Day only comes around once a year on January 28. WP Tavern decided to add theme authors to the mix this year.
Being a plugin developer myself, it’s nice to sit back for the day and feel appreciated. However, I need to take a little time this year and throw out a little love to a fellow developer.
I could send a shout out all the devs I’ve learned from over the years, but that’d be a long list that I’m not even sure I’d get done writing before the day is over. Instead, I want to point you to the plugin developer who has had the biggest influence on me over the past year. This is someone who has forced me to up my game a bit more by simply writing good, well-documented code. It can be tough to read through large chunks of code and immediately grasp what the code is doing, but this guy has it down to an art.
This developer is Pippin Williamson.
Thanks for all your hard work, particularly on Easy Digital Downloads. This year, maybe I’ll see if I can catch up to your 73 plugins in the WP repo.
For the theme developer, I’m going to make this a group thing. The folks that have inspired me the most in the past year are the people making child themes and sharing them right here on Theme Hybrid with our community.
Sami, Thiago, Kris, Marty, and everyone else who has contributed themes, thank you.
How can I give back?
Please take a moment to give a good rating to your favorite themes/plugins on the WordPress.org repository. Send a donation if you can. Write a blog post and let your readers know.
