Picturesque WordPress theme

Hybrid Core 1.4 and a new theme all in one week? Yep, It’s been a great week here at Theme Hybrid thus far.

I’m happy to announce the first ever photoblogging theme that I’ve managed to put together. I’ve unsuccessfully tried many times over the last few years to come up with a satisfactory design idea for photobloggers. I think I’ve managed that with Picturesque.

About the theme

The big hurdle I wanted to jump was to make an elegant front page design without resorting to an image slider. Some people love them; some people hate them (including me). The included “Gallery” page template is my humble attempt at this. I also wanted to make use of the “image” and “gallery” post formats that WordPress offers. So, this template is tied directly to that functionality.

Picturesque comes packaged with many of the standard features you’ll find in most Theme Hybrid themes, such as multiple nav menus, breadcrumbs, post layouts, and so on (all features listed on the theme page).

Overall, I wanted to keep it simple. The design is meant to get out of your way and allow you to show off your images, art, and photography.

Download the theme

You can download the theme and check out the demo from the Picturesque theme page.

At the time of writing, the theme hasn’t yet been approved on WordPress.org. It might take a few weeks for it to go through the process, so you’ll need to manually install the theme. I wanted to go ahead and make it available to you all though.

As a photographer, I’ve been using a modified “Trending” child theme for my blog for a while, I may have to try this one.
