This function is actually a filter on
the_title. Its purpose is to conform to the WordPress theme repository guidelines for displaying something on non-single pages when a post is left untitled. This filter merely replaces empty titles with the text “(Untitled)”.
hybrid_untitled_post( $title );
This function accepts a single parameter of
$title, which is the post title passed via the
the_title filter hook.
This function returns the original title if one exists. Else, it returns an internationalized title of “(Untitled)”.
Most likely, you’ll never use this in your theme templates. However, you may want to remove this filter for some reason. To do so, add the following line of code to your theme setup function.
remove_filter( 'the_title', 'hybrid_untitled_post' );
