Getting Started

Using this theme can be daunting to a new WordPress user or even someone that’s used to tinkering around with theme files because it’s likely the most advanced WordPress theme you’ve ever used.

This guide should get you started.

Installation

  • Unzip the downloaded file. You’ll get the folders named “options,” “shadow,” “options-light” and “blue-danube.”
  • Upload the folders to your “themes” directory in your WordPress install.

You should have a directory structure that looks like this:

/wp-content
	/themes
		/options
		/blue-danube
		/options-light
		/shadow

You don’t have to install all three child themes if you don’t want to.

  • Login into WordPress admin panel (dashboard).
  • Click on the Design link.
  • Click on either the “shadow,” “options-light” or “blue-danube” theme screenshot or title to activate one of the included child themes.

Don’t activate the Options theme. What you’re doing is activating a child theme of Options.

Choose your theme settings

There’ll be plenty of options you’ll want to set up to get your blog running. You’ll need to learn how the theme settings page works.

Set up your sidebar widgets

You’ll also want to set up your sidebar widgets. These make choosing which content you want in your sidebar painless. See the sidebar widgets page for your available options.

Begin posting

Once you’ve set up your theme settings and widgets, you can begin posting again.
