Using slimbox

  1. Hi justin.
Just wanted to say thanks for another great theme. Undoubtly you belong in the top3 wordpress designer Hall of designing. Just dunno who the other 2 are :-)

Anyway,I have been following the documentation for Options theme and believe that i´ve done everything correctly, but how do i get the slimbox to work?

Im using 2.5 wordpress, followed the instructions on using slimbox, but it donna wanna work :(

Could you guide me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kristian

  2. Hej Kristian - do you have an example on your website (super hjemmeside - man blir lækkersulten!) where slimbox is supposed to work? I see there is an error on the page and it could be lack of code or maybe misplaced code...

  3. Hey there (og tusind tak)
I saw myself there was an error in IE (thats why i use FF), but i just made the "roulade med ribs", where I added the feature images, and so on, and then i have uploaded images the normal way thrugh wordpress and at the buttom of the post its inserted as a default gallery.

In the middle of the post there is a photo, Ive added just using the normal insert photo button in the editor.
In FF, when i press the photo in the middle it looks as it almost decides to use the slimbox, but it just shows the photo in the default way!

Hope that explained it a little
På forhånd tak <----Thats danish, and that is not only something you eat :D

  4. okdk - do you have this calling your slimbox piture: 'thumbnail1' where 'rel="lightbox"' activates the pic. Take a quick look here fore more 'http://www.4mj.it/slimbox-wordpress-plugin/'

  5. thumbnail1 schould be: 'a href=”img1.jpg” rel=”lightbox” title=”my caption”>thumbnail1</a'

  6. Oki, thanks for the help. Will try just what you suggested :)

  8. Are you saying that one "should not" use the wp build-in gallery as it generates invalid code?

  10. Got it Justin - I'm only using the buil-in for uploading pics associated with posts, not galleries but I I'm planning a small attack on the gallery-steam thing as I would like maybe in the bottom of my page a similar thing with say 4-8 small pics NOT associated wih posts. Perhaps I should do a new thread on this...

  11. Justin, are there any things to take in consideration when using this gallery?
    Let me explain.
Ive downloaded the plugin, activeted it, and........ohhhhh.....nothing *cry*
As the-elder points out im also using the built in uploader, and i cant get it to work.

I even tried to put in the image "manually" with the add image button, where you have to provide an url, and after that added the rel="slimbox" and still no luck :(

    Any suggestions?

  12. Kristian: I don't think you can can add the Slimbox function to an WP uploaded image. What I've done previously, was to create a folder on the host e.g. Gallery. In there I had 10 images. I then called them in a Set with the function I showed you earlier in this thread.

Unless I have overseen some functionallity, then ftp an image to a preferred folder on your host and call it from there with Slimbox.

    Justin: I'm I mistaken here?

  14. Ahhh, maybe the version is the right thingy here.
You see, i followed the ling you provided to the slimbox, and its a "dead" end, or atleast it wont load the page.
So i googled a little and found a danish version of the script, and simply followed YOUR installation of it.

  15. Cool, let's here the result once you're there.
@Justin: I might have complicated my thoughts a bit :-) So the URL would be e.g. 'http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-content/2008/07/example.jpg'?

  17. Tops! I didn't think you could do it as I thought maybe Slibox were not allowed to call th db - but it's certainly noted. Have you had a look at the "media gallery" I'm using for both pics and flv's 'http://www.flashnifties.com/'? It's so easy to use and tweak, but of course it's an entirely different approach

    Thanks Justin - you're good man ;-)

  18. Go Justin, go justin, go justin.
*makes me wanna dress up like a cherleeder with pompons and colourfull hair*
    Its working like a charm.
Whein i initially uploaded and followed your instructions I also uploaded the danish files for "close", "next" and so on and placed them here:/themes/options/js/css/images/
They are not showing though...any idea?

Thanks so much for excellent theme and support.

  19. Remember they will only show in a "set". As far as I remember, those images should stay in the Slimbox subfolder Images - like this plugins\slimbox\images.

Tasty header you've done - I'll definitely try out your guides for cooking...

  20. Please ignore the images thing - you're using the js not the plugin - my fault :-(

  21. HAHA, thats ok.
Thanks for the "thumbs up" on my header.
I really like what you have done with the customization of the theme.
Couldnt recognize it at first glance :)
