Using Hybrid for blog only on existing site.

  1. @Anybody.

May anyone share some urls to resources on how to use WP as blog only in a existing non-WP site ?

@Justin: Are there any special considerations to do which are Hybrid specific ?

Styling is OK with a child theme, but I am unsure about menu/navigation. I`m just looking for some general direction...

  2. I re-read the question several times and I'm still not sure what you are asking?

  3. I think ... "How do I convert my non WP site to a WP blog?" Maybe ...

  4. @ Ipstenu If it was someone other than John maybe.

But John (hi John...) is very wp smart

That was why I could not figure it out.

Maybe no php or data base?

  5. Sorry guys. I`m not native English speaking so what makes sense to me doesnt always make sense to others.

The question is; How to add a WordPress blog to a non-WordPress site, and having the same navigation in both the non-WordPress site and the WordPress blog, like its done with http://www.rackspace.com/blog/

The visual style, except for navigation may I do in a child theme.

I`m looking for urls to tutorials, documentation and case-studies, not complete answers.

  8. Just imagine I wanted to include a WordPress blog in http://www.adobe.com

A compatible layout may be done in a child theme, and WP running in a subdomain, but how about keeping consistent navigation/menu on in both cms systems ?

Its off-topic as far as Hybrid concerned but any urls are appreciated.

  9. I'd go with Justins suggestion of converting the original site to WordPress, but if this can't be done or isn't a preferable solution, I'd create the navigation/menu in the more used/important cms, view the source of the page & copy the navigation/menu section to where you want to place it in the other system along with the required css.
It's not an ideal solution as it will not auto update when navigation/menu changes are made, but it will provide the same look & feel.

  10. @davek

Thanks for the suggestion, but navigation must be dynamic. I know its possible to use curl to scrape the menu from another site, buts its probably to resource demanding, and vulnerable for errors.

Most sites who integrate WP for the blog does not include the main site navigation so I guess theres no easy solution, and the solution is probably supported by the other cms in some way.

  11. If the navigation/menu is stored in a DB, you could write a WordPress function to retrieve that data from the database, but if it's a static html menu, copy & paste of the source is the only way I can think of.
