I am using Hybrid News theme on my website: http://www.netbookfreeware.com. I want to use some short codes on this. However, I do not want to use any plugin to replace my shortcodes with the text that I want to replace with. Could you tell me if there is an alternate option to use shortcodes in Hybrid News theme.

My bad. Here are the details:
1) There is a standard text that I want to insert at different places in my every post. However, instead of inserting that exact text, I want to associate that with a shortcode.
2) As per my understanding of short codes, after this I can just insert that short code in any post (like you mention, via post editor), and then my pre-defined text will appear in the post.
The problem is I do not know how to do step 1.

This was so helpful! I used it in combination with My Snippets to put a block of text in the utility area after page only on certain pages, using a shortcode.
