Feature and Excerpt Home Sections Together

   If I have the latest post in the Feature section then the first excerpted post in the excerpt home section is the same post. Is there a way to feature the most recent post without this duplication?

   The Excerpts Home Section looks great on its own and in testing (locally hosted site at the moment) my original thought was to use it by itself or in conjunction with Post List Tabs. But as I played with the layout, it occurred to me to have one particular article "pop" as the feature. That could be the latest post and so I had the question about using them together. I'll probably just stick with the excerpts although a bit of styling for the latest article sounds interesting as well.

   I've also been trying to stick to the child theme model so I've been trying to avoid any direct hacking. That said, your idea of setting a variable and styling a particular post in the Excerpts home section differently is intriguing - maybe something for a future Structure?

   Well, you could make a 'feature' category and exclude any articles under this category in the excerpts.php. I did just that at http://mmadriven.com

   However, it does add a little bit of work because if you add another feature article you must go and uncheck the previous feature article from your feature category so it can show up in the excerpts list.

   Note: I did this for the 'options' theme so I'm not positive it could work for you.
