Change the output of before entry and after entry for content.

  1. Hi there,

I'm using Hybrid plus Skeleton to setup a theme.

At present the value of before entry for content looks like this:

"By admin on 17 March 2009"

I would like to change that too:

"Tuesday, 17th March 2009 | Art, Industrie Graphique | Add Comments"

Likewise with after content I need to make changes there too. My reading so far has lead me to understand that in my child theme I will need to edit function.php and do something with hooks (whatever that is).

Some helpful hints would be great, since I'm having trouble working out how to get started. I can see the Hybrid equivalent for "Art, Industrie Graphique" in the after entry content as "Posted in Art, Industrie Graphique", so I will need to modify that and move it to before entry content, but I cannot see anywhere what will provide "Add comments".

    Any help appreciated.

    With thanks,

    Warren.

  2. This is helping : http://themehybrid.com/themes/hybrid/hooks/shortcode-aware-hooks

  3. This http://themehybrid.com/themes/hybrid/hooks/shortcode-aware-hooks is good but some more information on how the name of the filter is constructed would be great.

    For example:

    hybrid_entry_title
    hybrid_byline
    hybrid_entry_meta
    hybrid_comment_meta

are the documented filter hooks that allow shortcodes. However in the examples I see the name of the filter to hook to as "hybrid_blog_byline" and "hybrid_singular-post_entry_meta". How does this construction work and what is its meaning? In my testing using the filter name "hybrid_byline" and "hybrid_blog_byline" produced the same result, so what is the difference?

    Thanks,

    Warren.

  6. Dear Justin,

Thanks for that, so the bit in the middle is the context. For my original question, I wanted to change the byline everywhere so I guess I would just go with hybrid_byline without any context.

    Regards,

    Warren.

  7. Hi again

I use the default page (ie blog). I managed to change the byline, and i'll try to deal with my original question on my own, just to digg into functions' heart (hope they won't suffer!)

    Thx for the clues

    Fred

  8. So i guess the only thing i need to set up is a conditionnal function overruling the basic loop so that if a post is posted in my twitter cat i could only display the entry content and get rid of entry title, entry byline, entry meta?

    I'm i right?

    Fred

  10. Hi again justin

I've managed to change the byline using functions. But it's not only the byline i need to change but the whole way a post is displayed depending on a category.

For the twitter posts i'd like only the content to be shown, no title, no byline, no metas.

But is there a function to do so? I've looked into the function.php of hybrid-news may be should i look into hybrid's one as well ?

Worked just the way i hoped.

  13. Great, great, great. You can now see the result : http://www.upandfresh.eu !

    Thanks again

    Fred
