Support for this plugin would be great http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce/

For ratings I suggest you this plugin GD Star Rating http://wp.gdragon.info/
If the picture is the frontpage, how will you display the basket?
Also what about product descriptions and products that typically is higher than wide?

Thanks for clarifying that.
I've also looked into the shooping plugins, but I think a lot of them come up short.
But features I would like to see in a webshop from either a plugin or from the theme is:
- Every post is a product
- Stock (how many do we have in stock of a given product)
- The ability to define fields like dimension, weight, producer and a bunch of other stuff
- Amazon plugin (people who bought this, also bought. They have made this plugin at weblogtoolscollection.com but I can't find it now)
Looking forward to this theme Justin.

Justin, the Amazon-type plugin Thomas Clausen was thinking of might be "Where did they go from here" at http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2008/08/15/wp-plugin-where-did-they-go-from-here-updated/ and the earlier version at http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2007/06/04/wp-plugin-where-did-they-go-from-here/
The earlier-version page refers to Amazon's “Customers who bought this item also bought” but what the plugin does, as described on the later-version page, is it "adds the small list of links to the bottom of each post, as on this blog, of places within your blog that visitors went to after visiting a particular post. This emulates an Amazon functionality of similar nature."
Actually when it comes to features, I think it would be good to look towards Magento. It has so many cool features, so it's just to take them from the top...
I'm currently using Options Theme and importing from an ebay rss feed into posts. I had to use Options because of it's Full Posts feature on the home page.
If a theme uses excerpts (Visionary & Hybrid/old school hack) all I get is the title on the homepage and on single posts. So for me at least, I would need the 'full posts' option built into the theme.
The main problem with ebay feeds is each post is in a table. I'm going to have an old discontinued plugin (wp-autoblog) rewrote to strip the table stuff so I can use css to style and also to add more functionality.
In your mockup a side widget area would be needed for categories IMHO, so your customers don't have to scroll clear to the bottom.
The cleanest looking store theme I have seen is:
http://niche-content-stores.com/demos/toursdemo3/
http://niche-content-stores.com/demos/toursdemo3/store/category/north-america
Although it uses pages not posts and too narrow for my tastes, I like full width, at least for 1024x768.
Popular store plugins for datafeeds/rss include
datafeedr
phpbaypro
wordbay
wp-o-matic
import_csv
I guess that's enough for now.

I like this one the best: http://themehybrid.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/store-big-quad.png especially if the top one could be rotating with X numbers of feature products.
I would like to see the category of the products in the main content area as well as the title. But the category should be more subtle.
Namewise, I think it should be called something that leads the mind into teaser, teasing or something like that. What about siren? Because of the temptation the different content poses. It's like a candystore, we want a bit of everything :-)

As I wrote above I think it would be good to look towards Magentos feature list. specifically:
- Stock Availability
- Special price for special customers
- Supplier
Other features:
- RSS feed of New Orders
