Say hello to the new guy -intro thread

  1. Hi all didn't see an official introductory thread so I'm starting my own.
Thanks to Justin for ThemeHybrid, which I've yet to install by the way.
Hoping all goes well so I don't come to the forums sniveling, whining and otherwise kvetching, lol.

Thinking to begin with a child theme of Hybrid News.
Maybe toss in a BBPress install, or throw it out to MUWordpress

In a premium thread discussion I noticed some hybrid news discussion and a couple gems a child theme malleable and http://american-idol-updates.com/ (a closet idol fan here).

I've been lucky enough to be a professional web designer for some 10 years, playing on the computer. Wordpress dev could open the door to bigger and better things that's for sure.

I'm a total forum addict with thousands of total posts if you combine, stylegala.com, expressionengine.com and various disc golf (frisbee golf) sites.
Always trying to contribute to the community, maybe I should run for Mayor!
Anyways enough blathering, peace out for now!

The professional membership looks like a good value, hard to say what all I'm missing as a freebie sign-on?

  2. I do recommend to become a premium member as it give you access to nearly instant support. It's very helpful, especially if you're developing a theme for a client, and you're stuck at some point.
    I signed up straight away for premium, as it's only 25$ a year - that's a no-brainer.

  3. Hey Paul solid recommendations across the board. If I had to choose between DigWP the book and ThemeHybrid premo' membership I might choose the latter :)
Not doing any client work at the moment, not in WP, soon maybe.

  4. there is a great screencast series at blog.themeforest.net, called WordPress for designers. It will teach you all you need to know about designing for WordPress.

  5. Thanks, had to drop in a link to the motherload of tutorial videos for themeforest at http://nettuts.blip.tv/ Plan on subscribing via iTunes to keep up with all the good tut's screencasts. Wordpress for Designers looks to be a great beginner resource for me.
