Responsive Themes

  1. Justin et al...

With the rise of mobile devices, I've been looking at the handful of 'responsive' themes that exist out there - themes that resize based on the device they're viewed on - screen, ipad, iphone, Android, etc.

I can see benefits in the idea - consistent branding, mobile support without additional plugins, single-ish theme to support, etc. On the other hand, I've struggled a bit to make changes in one layout without impacting others. This is likely a learning curve issue on my part but also may be coding related.

In any case, I was wondering what others thought about this and specifically Justin if you've given any thought to the idea of a 'responsive' framework or parent theme... Prototype please. :)

  2. I've been wondering what your take is on this as well Justin. Having seen themes like onswipe on my iPad I think it looks pretty sweet, and really put the content in focus. A theme like twenty eleven is also a little responsive, but not to the extend that onswipe is.

I too would love to see something from your hand Justin, but I also would like to hear what you think of this "new fad".

  3. I don't have a good reply yet. There's some cool stuff out there, but I've learned not to jump too quickly on all it.

So many things change on a year-to-year, month-to-month, and even day-to-day basis. We're fortunate to be able to see so many advances in Web technology, but being cautious never hurts.

But, whether I implement anything like this or not, I'm definitely exploring the idea.
