Query Post Plugin | Next Level with WPMU « Community

Welcome, guest!

Feel free to read the blog, browse for themes, or join the club.

The community forums are currently being phased out. At the end of February or early March 2012, you will no longer be able to post here. This is because the entire site is being restructured. Please use the main forums for discussions.

Query Post Plugin | Next Level with WPMU

  1. Hi Justin,

I should say I have not been exploring enough, the resources you have put up in this community. I just found your "Query Post Plugin" two days ago, indeed it is exceptional. This alone will significantly reduce the amount of 3rd party Plugins non developer like us have to install in order to get different things done. More grace to your Elbows.

I know you once said you are not that very much into WPMU, no blames for that, might be because of the demand out there. But with the growing need of people wanting to be able to run multiple wordpress blogs and have easy control from one backend, I suggest you should consider making WPMU an option.

Now this is my idea: The "Query Post Plugin" to my opinion will become a Master Piece if it could become WPMU compatible, in the sense that when activated in the Main MU Blog, it should be able to pull posts from across the entire WPMU installation (Site) and display them on the Main MU Blog, just as it presently does on individual blogs.

This will also dramatically increase the potential of the Wordpress MU Blogging Platform itself.

Hope you take my suggestion into consideration.

    Thanks for the Great work.

  2. It would be a nice feature indeed, but it have just been announced that WP and WPMU will merge so I guess plugin developers will have to wait and see what actually happens...

  3. Yeah, I'm waiting to see what's going to happen with the merge before starting to work with MU. We'll likely see some new functions and possibilities with this type of stuff.

With Query Posts though, we're limited to doing exactly what the query_posts() WP function does. Looking at it from the widget side of things, it looks like it'd be a crazy plugin to write. But, all the plugin really does is put a shiny coat of paint over something that's been in WP forever. I basically just added a control panel to it.

What I'm getting at is that the plugin will never be able to do anything more than what the query_posts() function provides. So, the people we should really be asking about this is the WP.org developers because you'd want them to extend that function.
