Welcome, guest!

Feel free to read the blog, browse for themes, or join the club.

The community forums are currently being phased out. At the end of February or early March 2012, you will no longer be able to post here. This is because the entire site is being restructured. Please use the main forums for discussions.

Outline in action

  1. I have made Outline the theme for my personal blog. I didn't change much, as I think it is a great theme as is. I did change the byline and entry-meta a bit, put in a shorter excerpt length and set a default image for posts. The code I added to functions.php is below. I still can't decide if I want to use the Primary navigation or just do away with it. I'll probably make the 'Welcome' text widget conditional to the home page and use query posts in the sidebar once I have more content.
/*default image filter*/

add_filter( 'get_the_image_args', 'my_get_the_image_args' );

function my_get_the_image_args( $args ) {
$args['default_image'] = 'http://krogsgard.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/briank.bmp';
return $args;
}

/* Insert custom excerpt length */

add_filter('excerpt_length', 'my_excerpt_length');
function my_excerpt_length($length) {
return 30; }

//custom byline

add_filter( 'hybrid_byline', 'my_byline' );

function my_byline( $byline ) {
global $post;

		$byline = '
Posted in [entry-terms taxonomy="category"] on [entry-published]  [entry-comments-link before="| "] [entry-edit-link before="| "]
';

	return $byline;
}

//custom entry-meta

add_filter( 'hybrid_entry_meta', 'my_entry_meta' );

function my_entry_meta( $meta ) {
global $post;

	$meta = '
[entry-terms taxonomy="post_tag" before="Tagged "] [entry-comments-link before="| "]
';

	return $meta;
}
2. I somehow screwed up the code above - let me try this again:

    /*default image filter*/

add_filter( 'get_the_image_args', 'my_get_the_image_args' );

function my_get_the_image_args( $args ) {
$args['default_image'] = 'http://krogsgard.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/briank.bmp';
return $args;
}

/* Insert custom excerpt length */

add_filter('excerpt_length', 'my_excerpt_length');
function my_excerpt_length($length) {
return 30; }

/*custom byline*/

add_filter( 'hybrid_byline', 'my_byline' );

function my_byline( $byline ) {
global $post;

		$byline = '
Posted in [entry-terms taxonomy="category"] on [entry-published]  [entry-comments-link before="| "] [entry-edit-link before="| "]
';

	return $byline;
}

/*custom entry-meta*/

add_filter( 'hybrid_entry_meta', 'my_entry_meta' );

function my_entry_meta( $meta ) {
global $post;

	$meta = '
[entry-terms taxonomy="post_tag" before="Tagged "] [entry-comments-link before="| "]
';

	return $meta;
}
