More options to customize the layout of Hybrid pages « Community

Welcome, guest!

Feel free to read the blog, browse for themes, or join the club.

The community forums are currently being phased out. At the end of February or early March 2012, you will no longer be able to post here. This is because the entire site is being restructured. Please use the main forums for discussions.

More options to customize the layout of Hybrid pages

  1. I don't know if this fits in page templates, but it would be great to have an easy way to organize the layout of pages (especially the front page) of a Hybrid site. Kind of like the Options theme, but even more flexible. I'm thinking the ability to easily split the page in a variety of ways:
    --number of columns
    --number of sections (rows)
--types of sections (post block, tabbed blocks, features gallery, photo gallery, large article, thumbnail articles, etc.)
--Choosing between displaying excerpts or full posts.

Right now, all the themes lean towards a blog-roll style, as in, full posts listed in chronological order. I'm looking for more flexibility.

  2. superboy,
Let me add my voice to your request! I've been raising the same call in other places on this site.
Justin does excellent work, and I hope he will do this!

  3. Just to reiterate what I've said before so others viewing this thread won't be confused, this kind of stuff would come through child themes. I know you guys know this, but just in case others are seeing it.

Old School has a page template called Showcase that's not blog style.
