Hybrid Theme Update (HTML 5?)

  1. Hi All,

I'm planning on trying my hand at some wordpress theme development and I'm looking at a few different frameworks at the moment. I was just wondering if there's any plans on updating the core hybrid framework to take advantage of some of the newer web technologies like HTML 5 and CSS3 (from the hybrid demo i noticed it's not using the HTML 5 doctype nor any of it's new features).

Looks quite amazing so far though, very polished.

  2. The Hybrid theme uses an HTML doctype in the latest version (0.9).

HTML5 is not yet a finished standard though. Nevertheless, I don't see it moving to use HTML5-only markup anytime soon. It really offers no benefit to most users and would most likely break some child themes. If a large enough portion of the Hybrid theme users wanted to make that move (80%+) now, I could see this as being something to consider.

Now, as far as the Hybrid Core framework goes, it has nothing to do with HTML.

As for CSS3, I'm not sure what you're asking about. You can use any version of CSS you want.
