This is my second Hybrid-News customization.
I'm starting a health blog network with a friend. Here's the site:
My previous hybrid-news modification: http://www.jarretmorrow.com/
The community forums are currently being phased out. At the end of February or early March 2012, you will no longer be able to post here. This is because the entire site is being restructured. Please use the main forums for discussions.
To be fair, I did use a similar color scheme as Robert's Cultre360.org. I didn't use any of his images, or CSS. Hope, this is okay?
I was hoping to create a 'poor man's' version of Robert's excellent design. :)
Here's the much better version by Robert:
As far as we are concerned, your theme sits OK with us.
Maybe you could do a bit more styling work on the menu drop-downs and the carousel images are getting stretched out of proportion.
The breadcrumb has a generous top margin - I see it lines up with the sidebar widget but do you need it so deep?
Other than this, I'm sure you could spend more time brushing up various little corners of the site but it looks very decent already. Well done.
Thanks for your kind feedback.
If you ever make a Hybrid Child theme for sale, I'll be your first customer--not to mention, I won't have to muck around with editing this stuff. :)
1. I adjusted the breadcrumb margin to fix this issue that you identified--thnx.
2. I did the best I could to add some styling to the drop-down menu. But drop-down menus are a challenge.
3. I don't know how to fix the carousel issue without removing the fixed height/width. I like the look of the matching image sizes, but a few of the images are getting stretched as you note.
Part of my problem is that I'm stuck doing everything with CSS since I don't know how to create images in Photoshop to style backgrounds, header titles, etc.
I can only watch and be jealous of you guys' sites.
Also, on the culture360 site, what slideshow did you use?
I think Robert said the following in another thread:
"Slider is just the jQuery cycle plugin here: http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/"
Note Robert's a professional theme designer, Ler09. My site is unrelated--just done by me, a DIYer, I guess.
Finally got an upgrade on the Logo :-)
Also changed the front page layout a bit with 2 columns for the excerpts.
