How to start tweaking the skeleton child theme

  1. Hey guys!

I am very very new to creating wordpress themes (I was taught basic joomla and building strict xhtml websites lol) but I know once I have figured out how things are linked, I'll have fun with it.

Now for my question... I am using the Skeleton child theme as my base and creating my own stylesheet(s). I have already installed Hybrid because it is the Parent theme.

I am getting confused as to what div/class is connected to what. For example, I am trying to simply change the li element's display in the main navigation to inline so I can start working on my horizontal navigation.

I was trying to use the div #primary-menu, but I can't even get a different shade of blue to work on it. Is there a step that I am missing before actually even touching the css? Where should I start?

    Thanks guys and God bless!
