Digging Into Wordpress -book value

  1. Anybody have the book available at http://www.digwp.com ?
Wondering if it would jump start themehybrid development at all, or wordpress in general?
It didn't look like the book at least in the TOC mentioned anything about frameworks.

Anyone who's been using TH framework for a while and seen the book learn any new wp tricks then?

  2. I've written a review of the book
    http://pauldewouters.com/book-preview-digging-into-wordpress/

There isn't any specific information about frameworks, but for WordPress in general, I do recommend it.

  3. Thanks Paul, heck of a review. Noticed you mentioned about panel development in your critiques have you looked at any plugins for that. The couple notables I've seen are PODS and Flutter, check out this fresh googl-age of options also: http://www.kevinleary.net/6-ways-to-create-custom-write-panels-in-wordpress/
Custom write panels and total admin design are premium to clients I would think.

  4. tzHybrid,

Flutter is no longer under active development, there is a new one called Magic Fields, not sure it works though. I've tried pods, but it has a steep learning curve, you need to write a lot of code.
Justin mentioned something about WordPress 3.0 making this easier, so looking forward to that.

  5. I'd say it's a good book for Wordpress - not framework specific, though, but if you're unfamiliar with Wordpress it's a nice place to start. I think Chris Coyier is a fantastic teacher (check out his site css-tricks.com for tons of great stuff, including some nice videos on Wordpress), so it's easy to recommend him. I think the physical copy is a tad expensive, the the PDF seems to be priced fairly.

  6. When I lost my job and decided to turn my career over to the wild and crazy world of WordPress web design the two resources I have come to rely on the most are Theme Hybrid and CSS-Tricks. I found Them Hybrid via the Hybrid News Theme and CSS-Tricks via Chris Chris Coyier's amazing tutorials. When I wake up in the morning I watch the morning news, check Drudge Report and the Theme Hybrid forum.

I bought "Digging Into WordPress" (PDF Version) the day it was released and have found it to be an invaluable resource.
