Child themes and a theme switcher « Community

Welcome, guest!

Feel free to read the blog, browse for themes, or join the club.

The community forums are currently being phased out. At the end of February or early March 2012, you will no longer be able to post here. This is because the entire site is being restructured. Please use the main forums for discussions.

Child themes and a theme switcher

  1. I'm working on a site and I want to give the user the option to switch themes. I've got a really full-featured child theme (built off Hybrid) that is the default and a very simple high visibility theme (built off Skeleton). Problem is I'm having trouble calling up a child theme from the front-end.

Using various theme switcher plugins (Theme Switcher, Theme Switcher Reloaded, Theme Preview) all failed. When listing themes they don't list out the child themes. No problem, I thought, I'll just manually call the URL (ie: ?wptheme=child) but that doesn't work either.

Any ideas? What would be the cleanest way to run two themes for one set of content?

  2. Also I figure it goes without saying, but I'd like the choice the user makes to 'stick' so that the next time they visit they are served the correct version of the site.

I'm working on a site with a large portion of special needs visitors so I'm building a complete theme just for them.

  3. This is the community forum for posting custom child themes. If you need help with something, please post in the support forums:
