They would have done more performance tuning etc to speed the site up.

Comments are just native WP comments.

They didn't really want to be able to click on an issue and get all the issue articles (even though you can do it manually (for example: since they had specific requirements for displaying issues which ended up outside of the scope of the project.

Current issue is just a category to post the current issue, which is CSS styled specifically, the other issues are just posts in the category.

Yeah, the theme source is 82 files excluding images and the hybrid core files so a bit tricky to put on display. The theme consist of a few custom front end and admin plugins, helpers, js files and WP template files. We also used WPAlchemy's Metabox helper class for the custom post metaboxes.
Jan Egbert on " - Listener Magazine - Hybrid Core" Tue, 21 Jun 2011 18:11:50 +0000 Jan Egbert 3600@
Awesome job! I would love to have a look at the source of this theme. I love the preview functionality for print articles. I've always used a custom post type for issues and a taxonomy structure to link posts to issues. But I can see the advantages of using a taxonomy instead. I mean... articles are content and an issue is just that what keeps it together.
Jan Egbert on " - Hybrid Core" Tue, 21 Jun 2011 18:04:17 +0000 Jan Egbert 3599@
This does look great! Our custom time wall query isn't the fasted kid on the block with some 1.5k articles.
Brian Krogsgard on " - Listener Magazine - Hybrid Core" Mon, 25 Apr 2011 14:02:41 +0000 Brian Krogsgard 3532@
Hey Robert, just want to let you know I think you guys did an awesome job.

I love the menus, and how the menu class colors match the article underline for each.

Also, the columnist post type is pretty creative for a site that has lots of authors, or like you say, multi-author posts.

Well done.
Robert on " - Listener Magazine - Hybrid Core" Tue, 05 Apr 2011 00:42:53 +0000 Robert 3495@
The New Zealand Listener Magazine is one of NZ's leading publications. Now with a new online presence.

We redeveloped and redesigned the original site using WordPress and Hybrid Core.

There are a few customizations here.

We implemented a Columnist post type and Author taxonomy so we could assign multiple authors to an article as well as not have to link each columnist with a user account.

Implemented a time wall which prevents the most recent issue articles from being displayed in full. This works in conjuction with a custom Issue taxonomy which has an Issue Date as an additional field (we used the Meta for Taxonomies plugin to help with that).

Other custom stuff includes a nice post gallery, configurable home page and site options, custom registration fields, custom Omniture tracking, ads insertion.
onlyinmyhead on " - Hybrid Core" Sun, 20 Mar 2011 18:58:40 +0000 onlyinmyhead 3476@
Love the tabs - nicely shaded. I did a mock up in Options 2 something years ago and I still get o maybe 10 hits a week for one.

No calls though lol. It looks very nice. One thing I was confused about navigating, but the photography is very nice. The title tag should be fixed.

But wow she does nice weddings, good luck.
whobody on "Wedding Web Site Custom Hybrid Child Theme" Thu, 11 Feb 2010 23:31:49 +0000 whobody 2629@

The topic just about said it... I worked with a designer who gave me some awesome but tough templates to follow. And, not to make excuses, but I'm more of a hobbiest than a designer. This was hard work! : |

While I like how the site turned out, and my client/friend likes it, there is still a lot that is undone. Browser compatibility, etc. I finished this a while back and in about two months they will put up a new site already. While I see the Hybrid and associated child themes I don't see any representative bbPress themes.

My only clue that you might is: Support Forum: bbPress Themes (202 posts) and the simple fact that this forum is based on bbPress.

I'm interested in the Hybrid theme but also need a bbPress theme and was wondering if this was the right place. If true, how does it match up with the various hybrid themes? I know this is an antiquity, but a great one. Compared to other current themes it is always "on the top".

So I firstly realised a dark child theme for my site and now a new clear one called "Blue Laggon". You can switch the differents themes with the switcher in the sidebar. I use a widgetised footer inspired by "davek" (X-Factor).
