I can see the inactive menu items fine on my computer, but I can image some monitors might not show them very clearly. I'll fix that when I have a chance.

I excluded a search icon since I'm trying to keep it minimalist, but I do probably need to do some adjusting with the search bars to make them more intuitive. I'm not real happy with them right now, but they work (fortunately).
David Chandra on "Pokemon Card Database - Prototype Child" Sat, 24 Sep 2011 06:58:01 +0000 David Chandra 3704@
and the search bar (the big search bar) need icon.

awesome mod.
Brian Krogsgard on "Pokemon Card Database - Prototype Child" Wed, 21 Sep 2011 15:12:23 +0000 Brian Krogsgard 3701@
Really nice work, Adam. It's pretty tough to read.

But really, nice job.
Adam Capriola on "Pokemon Card Database - Prototype Child" Tue, 20 Sep 2011 17:14:53 +0000 Adam Capriola 3698@
Sup my TH homies?

I've been working on this site for a few months now and am finally out of "beta" mode with development, so take a look:

I run a Pokemon TCG strategy blog and wanted to make a resource for my viewers so it would be easy for them to look up pictures (scans) of the cards mentioned within the articles.

On that site, I'm running a preg_replace on the content to link keywords (card names) to the appropriate page on for easy reference.

This site is a Prototype child, but at some point I will (might) make my own custom theme with the Hybrid Core.

It really pushed my limits making this site and I learned about WordPress and just coding in general working on it. All the entries on the site look like this.

So mainly I've got a custom post type with some custom taxonomies. I've been able to automate almost everything. Like I have release dates for different cards stored in a function, so I don't have to manually enter them.

It also automatically grabs card prices from various sites. It isn't perfect, but I do have postmeta fields where I could override incorrect prices if need be. All this makes it super easy to add new cards to the database.

You can see the prices listed on a single page like this one.

I use WP-PostRatings for the ratings (with an Ajax hack to play nice with WP Super Cache). I tried using W3 Total Cache but had issues with the ratings cache.

I might eventually ditch the ratings as well as Disqus comments to get it loading faster. I was really concerned with site speed building this whole thing.

Anyway yeah that's mainly it... let me know what you think! It's fairly advanced, at least for my skill set.
Keira Dooley on "Design by Dooley" Thu, 15 Sep 2011 21:15:32 +0000 Keira Dooley 3685@
Hello all-

I've been designing sites for awhile now and have recently gone full time as a Web design and WordPress consultant. The client is stoked, and I've largely got the Hybrid ecosystem to thank for that. Just in the last couple days I've started final polishing and I've had to do a lot of explicit over-riding of style settings that are imported from the Prototype style.css. Just simple stuff like borders, backgrounds and font styles, but it seems like an extra step that could be eliminated for future child theme authors if we let them import a really basic skeleton stylesheet that just floats the divs according to 2c-l, 3c-l etc and leaves the rest as markup defaults?
amyg on "Burnt Sugar the Arkestra - Protoype child" Thu, 04 Aug 2011 17:36:00 +0000 amyg 3659@
Thanks "only" ;-)
onlyinmyhead on "Burnt Sugar the Arkestra - Protoype child" Thu, 04 Aug 2011 14:45:10 +0000 onlyinmyhead 3658@
I like the rollover effect on the header. The text gets tough to read (especially for someone like me with bad eyesight) after a few lines. The background for text just need to be toned down.
Bill Seymour on "Burnt Sugar the Arkestra - Protoype child" Wed, 03 Aug 2011 10:10:23 +0000 Bill Seymour 3654@
The post title demanded a look!

1. The site home page looks fine in IE8. Discography page also appears OK, although I didn't click onto anything there.

2. If you are using Firefox as your browser, a handy addon is IE Tab 2, which views the site in IE while you are still in FF. I use this frequently to make quick checks of how things are working in IE.

3. Just a subjective design thought: I wonder if the intensity (saturated reds) of the content area should be toned down so that the background doesn't compete as much with the text.

Take the same repeating pattern you are using for the background, and desaturate it some (ie, if you have Photoshop, add a Black and White adjustment layer, then experiment with that layer's opacity. 100% opacity will render the pattern completely BW, 0% opacity will cause the BW layer to have no effect. You can find the right percentage for your needs.) Then save that repeating pattern, and use it as background for the content area.
amyg on "Burnt Sugar the Arkestra - Protoype child" Tue, 02 Aug 2011 02:30:10 +0000 amyg 3652@
Hey all,
Still have some polishing & speeding up to do & a bit of content to add - but I think I'm happy with what's done so far.
A Prototype child with only a small amount of (CPT)customization for my man's band.

Kind of terrified to know what it's doing in IE/Windows - would be most appreciative if a few of you would peek at it & tell me if your computers burst into flames..
(esp concerned about the audio player

Thanks everyone! - I've had so much help from you all (esp Justin!)
designOdyssey on "All About iPhone - Prototype" Mon, 01 Aug 2011 02:55:00 +0000 designOdyssey 3651@
Decided to google the title; found it.
Jan Egbert on "All About iPhone - Prototype" Tue, 21 Jun 2011 18:22:29 +0000 Jan Egbert 3601@
A link would help :)
mattrad on "All About iPhone - Prototype" Sat, 04 Jun 2011 00:46:21 +0000 mattrad 3585@
I've spent a while on this, so I thought I'd share :)

This is the third theme that All About iPhone has used, starting off with Cutline in 2008, moving on to a fairly heavily altered Gazette (Woothemes) in 2009, and now rocking a Prototype child theme which I'm very pleased with. (Great resource here, thanks).

I have been working with Skeleton and Hybrid, learning and exploring. I have found the Skeleton style sheet of tremendous value, because of its organization and tabbed structure. I have a visual sense of the hierarchy immediately. A very effective organizing tool.

My idea: offer a Skeleton-type child for development to go along with some of the new Parent themes (Prototype, in particular). I understand that the trend is to create Parent themes, which I think makes great sense after reading some of the blog posts. To develop our own Child themes from these Parents, a companion Parent-Skeleton would, I think, be welcome.

Just a thought. --Bill
DIYA on "Hybrid + Hybrid Original + WPML + Content Slider - Trop Brasil" Fri, 15 Apr 2011 09:19:53 +0000 DIYA 3517@
Very fun, works like a charm.
