Skeleton would have been the way to go seeing as much goofing I did with it. Just started there I guess and came away with something completely different. Learned a lot about Hybrid (and Wordpress in general) by tearing a theme apart though.

http://horsebrass.com

By the way, Justin helped a ton with many of my code questions (very responsive!), and I couldn't have got through it without him. If you haven't joined the support forums, do so. It's infinitely valuable if you plan to do much with Hybrid (or Prototype) and you're a PHP/Wordpress noob such as myself. And I'm sure it goes a long way in helping Justin continue his great work.
superboy on "Hybrid/Outline based business site. How have I done?" http://themehybrid.com/community/topic/hybridoutline-based-business-site-how-have-i-done#post-3399 Tue, 28 Dec 2010 17:25:41 +0000 superboy 3399@http://themehybrid.com/community/
http://www.compleximaginary.com/
I am currently building a business site selling books using the hybrid/outline theme. Having used Justin's themes for the last 3 years has gotten me used to all of this and I've learned a lot. I came in not knowing anything about codes, css, etc., but I am a very good computer user. Anyway, I still don't know that much about this stuff, but I am able to get by now. Thanks to a lot of help from Justin and this community.
So I wanted to show what I've done with Outline so far. I'll briefly mention the changes I've made. I typically don't like the blog format, so i removed everything that reminds me of blogs such as bylines, navigation links, breadcrumbs, etc. You can see how much stuff I've cut off. I also don't like the amount of white space that most people do like, so I've done a little fiddling with the margins and paddings. I removed the background image pattern. I may use just a simple colored background, or I may use another pattern. I don't know. I think it looks pretty cool just the way it is, but we'll see. None of the images, colors, and stuff is finalized, they are all just placeholders right now.

So, initially, I purchased ProPhoto for this site because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to tweak the look of it just right because of my novice ability in css, php, etc. But I switched back to hybrid because it really wasn't that much easier. I was used to the freedom I had with hybrid, even though that freedom comes at a cost of dealing with text files. i really wanted buttons and sliders to do everything, but it was too limiting. but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Firebug is a lifesaver, and so is justin's framework.

If I do get a refund for ProPhoto, I'm perfectly willing to send that money to someone just to have some backup emergency support. I don't need help building the website, I just want someone I can call in case there's a true emergency with something I can't figure out.
Amy on "www.amykvistad.com a portfolio and blog site using outline" http://themehybrid.com/community/topic/wwwamykvistadcom-a-portfolio-and-blog-site-using-outline#post-3346 Sun, 07 Nov 2010 22:42:24 +0000 Amy 3346@http://themehybrid.com/community/
Thanks for the tip!
I noticed that after I launched when I checked the site with browsershot.com. There are a few pages where I do not want bullet points for certain lists inside the content area. But, no matter how I style the lists, they still inherit the .content bullet points.

I did notice that the .content bullet points are styled using background url, but I'm not sure how to get rid of them. I tried
background: none
but that didn't work. I just spent a couple of hours this morning with outline "making it my own" for http://candlemonkey.com

What I liked best, is that it was pretty easy to make my site look relatively unique using just the admin panel (for the background) and editing the css. I didn't change much, as I think it is a great theme as is. I did change the byline and entry-meta a bit, put in a shorter excerpt length and set a default image for posts. The code I added to functions.php is below. I still can't decide if I want to use the Primary navigation or just do away with it.
