The Webzine is a diffusion website focused on the Metal music scene of the country where i live in, Chile.

In this redesign proceess with i commanded, i've worked with Hybrid mainly because i've worked a lot with it in the past, and i know truly well how it works and how to customize it.

Hope you like it. I chose the Structure - Hybrid version because it was the easiest to work with and accomplish what I wanted to do.

My main goal was to get their music up front on the main page as well as their demo CD, while still having a "fun" site. I used the Hybrid Hook widget plugin to create a widget using the before container hook. I then added transparent background to the container allowing the background image to show through.

My graphics on the brick wall aren't the best but, the band likes it. I hope you do to.

I am always open to constructive criticism!
russell on " (Hybrid News)" Mon, 02 Nov 2009 21:15:06 +0000 russell 2058@
Greetings Knightly,

All changes are in style.css. I use a single centered background image that includes the logo and tagline:
Finally, I removed all background color from the page navigation and category navigation so that the main background shows through.

That's it (I think).

Russell
Knightly on " (Hybrid News)" Sun, 01 Nov 2009 09:13:57 +0000 Knightly 2049@
Hi Russell,

I really like what you have done with the site using the hybird news theme - it looks great. i wondered if you were able to share how you customized the header of the site? SPECIAL NOTE: This is a music site and music will start playing when the site is loaded.

Background: At the beginning of the year, I decided to give a shot at creating a site that does a better job of promoting musician Patty Griffin than her official site does. I knew that accomplishing the purpose would not be very difficult, but I wasn't sure how the site would be structured. It was by chance that I came across Justin's themes and originally considered using an Options-based theme. When Justin moved his emphasis to Hybrid-based themes I thought it might be wiser to go that direction as well, and I'm very glad I did because consideration of the Hybrid News child made me realize that musicians are best promoted through news stories and, in particular, new about performances and news about recordings. The Hybrid News theme was perfect, and it actually drove how the content was arranged. As a result, relatively few modifications of the basic Hybrid News theme were made, and all of those are cosmetic. Although not a modification, I decided to use a featured video post as the only post appearing in the excerpt section.
qjones on "MusicPro Magazine" Tue, 13 Jan 2009 17:20:57 +0000 qjones 625@
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
thinkjayant on "MusicPro Magazine" Tue, 13 Jan 2009 04:58:08 +0000 thinkjayant 621@
Good design. I'm kind of flying blind here. Does anyone have any input? I couldn't believe how easy it was to set-up. Justin has the most well documented code I've seen. Before stumbling onto this site, I was pulling my hair out. Thanks Justin and all forum contributors for answering the questions I never had to ask! Thanks again, Quinton
