I have tested "fluid" grids with IE7 and under some circumstances there is not one grid that works with IE7. That includes your site or or any attemps I have made. How is it possible that IE7 can't calculate integers right:)

I could write some more detail in better time. And those problems are pretty minor, so don't worry. One way to go is just leave old IE behind. I discovered the Hybrid Core a couple of weeks into my 'education' and I love the whole principle behind what you've done - not to mention the structure and the whole ethos behind it. However, I think it's really important that you need to learn to walk before you can run, so rather than diving into creating themes using the Hybrid Core, I figure it's a lot more prudent to start as simple as possible, even though I sometimes forget this and find myself skipping stages A and B, only to get bogged down in C without having a clue of what I'm doing.

Anyway, although I'd found this site quite early on also, today I decided to work through a tutorial developed by a guy called Ian Stewart over at () and I've got to say it's really helping to make few principles very clear. I noticed a couple of references to yourself in some of the comments and wondered if you had any connection to Ian Stewart? Additionally I realise that the tutorial was uploaded in 2009 and acknowledge that there must have been a load of updates to Wordpress since that time, so although the tutorial seems to work fine for me on my local server, I'm wondering if a lot of what it teaches might be outdated now?

Apologies that this thread is not directly related to Hybrid, but if anyone is starting out with Wordpress from scratch (provided the tutorial isn't too outdated) I'd recommend it as a starting point.

Really looking forward at getting good enough to work with Hybrid though, and thanks for all your efforts to-date in making such an awesome framework.

PS. I also came across this article today which goes on about code-bloat and too many database queries in commercial wordpress themes and frameworks - something I'd never really considered before. It's an old-ish article, but in the comments section you'll find that Hybrid was rated at the top of the tree for fewest database queries - so congratulations :)

Edit: Whoops - and the link:
Justin Tadlock on "Origin: Responsive parent theme" Tue, 31 Jan 2012 16:52:59 +0000 Justin Tadlock 4860@
@Galin

I don't want to get too into the details yet, but the new site will allow theme authors to post their custom themes here on the site (on the actual themes page here). If you're interested, let me know.
Galin on "Responsive Design" Tue, 31 Jan 2012 09:42:25 +0000 Galin 4858@
Thank you @gloriaantonelli and @wiselywoven :) . My theme was never meant to be a replacement for any of the existing ThemeHybrid themes. It's just another example what can be done with Hybrid Core - for those members of the community who want to implement RWD into their own themes.

I'm not even 100% sure I should call it "my theme". It's a Hybrid Core theme.

The fact that it's responsive isn't a valid reason to use it as a base. You can just inspect the code (the CSS specifically) and use only the parts you are interested in.

Valid reasons to use Origin instead of let's say Prototype are:

You like the styling and use it more or less as it is.

Decide that it would save you time and efforts for a specific project.

Aside from those I think you should stick to the ThemeHybrid themes here. RWD is not rocket science. I don't mind sharing what I've learned so far and I'm not the only member with experience in the field.
VehiCROS on "Small shop with WooCommerce and Hybrid Core" Tue, 31 Jan 2012 03:32:06 +0000 VehiCROS 4857@
I just started using WooCommerce, and so far its worth trying, still lacks some perfection offered by WP-eCommerce but Offers some nice features that WP-e-Commerce does not.

I just purchased and installed the Canada Post Shipping Add-On and its as if its not there at all, like it doesnt work, doesnt do anything...... ???? If our websites are not responsive we are missing a growing opportunity. I was asking about this the other day when @Galin released his responsive theme built on the Hybrid Core here in the forums. You can see Justin's thoughts on responsive themes as well - again, here is the link that @gloriaantonelli already posted:

Personally, I want to stay using Justin's solid coding but I also want responsive design functionality so I appreciate what @Galin is up to, like I said, using Justin's Hybrid Core to build responsive themes: (there's two themes so far and a third coming)
