adding icon to link in style sheet

  1. I tried the following to add an (“offsite” Font Awesome icon) after a link using

    p.mws-widget-para-link-offsite a::after{
    	content: 'f08e';
    }

    in my stylesheet.
    “mws-widget-para-link-offsite”
    being the class added to a paragraph in a text widget.

    I copied and pasted the unicode direct from Font Awesome website.
    In the webpage the icon doesn’t show, just a small rectangle with (it is small but I think “f08e” in it).

    Using

    <i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i>

    in the link in the html as suggested on the Font Awesome website, displays the icon correctly, but it would be nice to be able to get it to work from the stylesheet.

  2. It’s tough to say exactly what the issue is for sure without seeing it. Can you link to the page?

    Do you have the element set to use the Font Awesome font?
