I just wanted to write a short, quick post to let you all know that version 0.7.1 of the Hybrid theme has been updated. This update is mostly a maintenance release that fixes a few annoying bugs.
A huge thanks to everyone that helped spot these bugs since 0.7 was released.
Version 0.7.1 bug fixes
Here’s the handful of bugs found and fixed:
$beforeand$afterattributes for the[entry-terms]shortcode now work.- The
show_namesetting for the Bookmarks widget should work correctly. - The Breadcrumb Trail code has been udpated to version 0.2.1, so the double slashes on sub-categories shouldn’t be an issue.
Yep, that’s all the bug fixes. Three bugs hardly seem enough to warrant a new release, but I wanted to get these updates out to everyone, especially since I’m gearing up to release the code framework behind the theme.
Download version 0.7.1
Please note that you should be running at least version 2.9 of WordPress to use this version of the theme.
Enjoy the new release!
I have a problem on the hybrid news theme that I can’t quite figure out…
in the footer I get this error message printed multiple times:
Warning: Compilation failed: characters with values > 255 are not yet supported in classes at offset 16 in /vservers/nwanetworkscom/htdocs/wp-includes/shortcodes.php on line 227
see it @ http://blog.nwanetworks.com
Also, in the dashboard I get a similar error in the plugings and wp dev blog windows
Warning: Compilation failed: characters with values > 255 are not yet supported in classes at offset 31 in /vservers/nwanetworkscom/htdocs/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 10725
do I need to upgrade or reinstall, is there a widget/plugin that is creating the problem?
Doesn’t seem to be a theme issue, but if you need help with anything you should ask questions in the support forums.
That’s weird… I downloaded the version 0.7.1 of Hybrid Theme and I notice something wrong. The head tag that links to feed “http://domain.com/wordpress/feed” is not being generated.
So, I installed the 0.6.2 Hybrid version and voilá! The tag was generated! Is there a bug of 0.7 Hybrid Theme? Am I doing something wrong?
Does anybody having this problem?
Thanks everyone!
Please use same markup for navigation-links in blog pages and in single post page.
In blog pages:
In single post page:
The first markup (link inside span) is preferred, it enables more flexible styling of the component.

Also, why is the title of single post page a link to the same page? Jakob Nielsen says: “never have a link that points to the current page” @ http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20031110.html
I’ll update the navigation links in the next theme update. I forgot about adding that to the 0.7 branch.
As for singular titles, those will stay the same, even if Jakob Nielsen doesn’t like it.
Seriously though, this was already discussed at length before, and it was decided that this was the preferred format.
Is there an ETA for the next theme update?
One more little bug: there should be an asterisk (=required) also above the textarea, ’cause it’s required to fill too.
Thanks!
I wouldn’t consider that a bug. It’s something that I doubt will be changing anytime soon.
As for a release date, I’m not sure. I’m not even considering a 0.7.2 yet because there have been no bugs found or reported yet, and it’ll probably be a few months before 0.8 is out.
What do you mean by “since I’m gearing up to release the code framework behind the theme.”?
I thought that the theme was the framework?
Vidyut
I found a bug in Hybrid. I didn’t know where to bug it since I am not a club member. You can see the bug on your demo site here: http://themehybrid.com/demo/hybrid/?tag=elements111
I believe the error occurs whenever you try to look up a tag that doesn’t exist.
Thanks Justin, for the upgrade, your themes are great.
I was just looking in forum for that breadcrumb issue and is now fixed
I have an issue though that I can’t modify it. I want to replace the separator ‘/’ with ‘>’ .
I copied the ‘breadcrumb-trail.php’ from ‘hybrid’ theme and then uploaded my modified one to:
themes/hybrid-news/library/extensions/breadcrumb-trail.php but it doesn’t update. Is this what I am meant to do?
I upload it to the default ‘hybrid’ theme and it works, but this is not ideal as the next time I upgrade it will be overwritten. Is there something I am missing? Am I meant to do something to the functions.php file as well?
Thanks heaps for your time, Ian
Hello,
I’m a novice, I don’t understand the various licences quite.
I wan’t to know, Can I sell my wp theme design based hybrid?
Hi, I realized there is no way to change the background color, you might want to consider fixing this in a new version.
