When I created the Hybrid theme framework, I wasn’t just simply creating a theme. I was adding another piece to my vision of how WordPress sites should function.
The Hybrid Hook plugin is a part of that vision. This is the type of functionality some of you have been waiting for.
What is the Hybrid Hook plugin?
I’ve talked a lot about how flexible the Hybrid theme is with action hooks and filters. Well, this is just a small sampling of what can be done without ever touching a theme file.
The plugin gives you complete access to Hybrid’s extensive hook system. Instead of mucking around in a lot of PHP code just to add a little something to your site, you can use this plugin to do it straight from your WordPress dashboard.

You can pretty much add XHTML, PHP, and JavaScript anywhere on your site.
Plus, it uses Hybrid’s single database entry, so the plugin doesn’t add any new entries to your database at all.

Currently, the plugin is only for exclusive members of the theme club. Exclusive members can download the plugin from the Hybrid theme page.
This is an early version of the plugin. I wrote it in one sitting this morning, so it’s not as fully developed as it might be in the future.
If you run into any problems, don’t hesitate to ask on the support forums.
After writting this question about hooks, I thought man It would be cool if Justin made a plugin that did this from the backend
Well, I guess you got your wish.
If the plugin idea takes off with the users around here, I’ll write some more that extend Hybrid like this. I’m just kind of testing out the waters right now, so to speak.

Will you put this onto http://www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins ? I know it will not make sense if you don’t use Hybrid, but the plugin update is just so much easier!
I’ll add it to the plugin directory if I ever release it completely to the public and non-exclusive members.

Only started using/’playing with’ Hybrid a few weeks ago. Justin, you have really done an awesome job with this theme and in particular your approach/strategy to how flexible and easily amended themes should be. Haven’t tried it yet but the Hook plugin continues with this fantastic approach to themes. Thank you!
